Texans vs Jets Free Pick

October 08, 2012

The Houston Texans will play Monday night in the Big Apple against the New York Jets. The Texans have a huge bull’s eye on their jerseys, as they are only one of two teams still undefeated in the NFL.

The Texans are 4-0 SU thus far and are 4-0 ATS. This season the Houston offense has outscored its opponents by the combined margin of 70 points in only four games. They are beating teams by an average of 17.5 points per game. Last week they beat Tennessee 38-14. Houston through four weeks has the best defense in the NFL and is second in the league in scoring offense two categories that have helped make them the team to beat in the AFC.

New York has started the season 2-2 SU and ATS. The Jets have played as inconsistently as their record would indicate. The Jets opened the season beating Buffalo by 20, then lost by 17 to Pittsburgh, beat Miami in OT and then were clubbed by San Francisco 34-0 last week.

Offensively the Jets are 28th in passing yards and 25th in rushing yards, while on defense they are 6th in passing yards allowed and 31st in rushing yards allowed. Last week they gave up 240 plus yards on the ground to San Francisco.

The Jets however, have never lost to the Texans. Since 2003, the Jets are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS versus Houston. The last time the two teams played head to head was in 2010 and the Jets were victorious 30-27. The game was the best career game for Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez. He had over 300 yards passing and three touchdown passes. In the last 5 games played between the two teams, the UNDER has cashed out on 4 occasions and the OVER just 1 time.

The line has Houston as a 9-point favorite at home, with the point total at 40. Takes New York to cover, with the total making winners of those betting the UNDER.
