Chicago vs Dallas Free Pick

Defense is what makes winners in the NFL and two teams with very strong defenses meet this week on Monday night, when the Dallas Cowboys host the Chicago Bears. Dallas has a 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS record thus far after just three games, while the Bears are 2-1 SU as well as 2-1 ATS.

The Dallas defense has played remarkably well in its first three games. The Dallas D leads the NFL in yards allowed per game and in week 3 gave up just 166 total yards to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 16-10 win.

The Bears defense has also been tough and is in the top 10 in many of the statistical categories for defenses. Last week, the Bears intercepted a pass for a touchdown and sacked the quarterback six times en route to a 23-6 drubbing of the St. Louis Rams.

Dallas has to be thankful for its defense since its offense is still trying to find its way. The offensive line has not opened holes for the running attack and DeMarco Murray the starting running back has not accumulated the yardage many thought he would. In addition, the Dallas offensive line has given up seven sacks and part of that is due to not having the services of Phil Costa the starting center. He is questionable for tonight’s game.

The teams have only played 10 head-to-head games since 1986. In those 10 games, both teams are 5-5 SU. In the last five games that Chicago has played versus Dallas in Dallas, the Bears are 2-3 SU as well as ATS. On Monday night, the Cowboys are 1-6 ATS over their last seven games and Chicago is 4-1 ATS over their past five Monday night games.

The line currently has Dallas as a 3 ½-point favorite with the point total resting at 41 ½. The game is tough to pick as tough defenses can change the game’s momentum on one play. Nevertheless, smart money is on Dallas to cover, with the point total cashing out to the bettors taking the UNDER.
