Wisconsin vs Nebraska Free Pick

The Big 10 conference schedule heats up tonight when the Wisconsin Badgers visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Both teams have identical 3-1 SU records. However, Nebraska is 1-3 ATS, while the Badgers are 0-4 ATS. For two consecutive seasons, Wisconsin has won or shared the Big Ten title and played as the conference’s representative in the Rose Bowl. This past season the team lost a number of senior’s and that has created a number of challenges for Head Coach Bret Bielema and his staff.

Wisconsin barely beat Northern Iowa in their opening game 26-21. The next week Pac-12 Oregon State defeated them and then they won two straight leading up to this game against teams of mediocre quality – Utah State and last week UTEP.

It will get much tougher for Wisconsin today as Nebraska has the conference’s best offense averaging over 540 yards a game. Nebraska’s only loss this season was against UCLA 36-30, but they have proven they can score points against any team in the country.

Nebraska is averaging over 48 points a game making them the eighth highest scoring team in the country. Their running attack is exceptional with quarterback Taylor Martinez and tailback Rex Burkhead. The passing game has improved tremendously as Martinez has a completion percentage of 70%, with nine touchdowns and only one interception. However, the rushing game makes them tick. Nebraska is averaging more than 316 yards a game on the ground, which is fifth in the country.

Wisconsin defeated Nebraska head to head in 2011 by a score of 48-17. Wisconsin is 8-2 SU over their past 10 games, while Nebraska is 12-5 SU over their past 17 games. The Cornhuskers are 9-1 SU in their last 10 home games. The over under for Wisconsin has been OVER 15 times out of their past 23 road games.

The line currently has the Cornhuskers favored by 11 ½. The total for over under is sitting at 50. Nebraska looks strong at home SU, while Wisconsin looks to cover the spread.
