Major league baseball’s regular season is heading down the home stretch. Teams are playing their last 10 games of a 162-game schedule fighting for the remaining postseason berths. Two teams hoping to make the postseason face off tonight in Arlington, Texas, when the Texas Rangers take on division rival the Oakland Athletics.

The Rangers lead the American League West by five games over the A’s and can clinch a playoff berth with just one more win. Oakland is currently two games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the race for the second and last wildcard slot in the American League.

This is the second game of the series between the two team and Texas won the first game 5-4 on a ninth inning single by Adrian Beltre. The win was the fifth in the last seven games for the Rangers against the A’s. Beltre and Josh Hamilton also had home runs in the game. Hamilton’s homer was number 43 on the season and he leads the majors in that department.

Oakland’s chances of winning the title in the AL West were hurt by the loss on Monday night. The A’s are 2-6 over their last eight games. Tonight Oakland will send Tommy Milone to the hill to face the Rangers powerful lineup. Milone is 13-10 thus far this season and has a 3.86 ERA. The left hander has had a difficult last four starts, as his earned run average over that spell has been close to 5.00.

Texas will counter Milone with one of their aces Yu Darvish. The right hander is 16-9 and has a 3.90 ERA. Darvish has been hot of late striking out 42 batters in his last 37 innings pitched. During that run, Darvish is 4-0. The Rangers’ pitcher however has not had as much success against the A’s. Darvish is 1-2 this season against Oakland.

The line on the game currently has the Rangers as the favorite at -200 with Oakland sitting at +180. The run total for over/under is at 8 ½. Smart money bettors are taking Texas to win and clinch a playoff spot and the total to pay out to the UNDER.
