Packers vs Seahawks Free Pick

September 24, 2012

The 2012 NFL season will be three weeks old after tonight’s game between the host Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers. Both teams have identical records thus far in the early going at 1-1.

The Seahawks opened their season with a loss, but rebounded with a solid defensive effort in game two to defeat the Dallas Cowboys 27-7. The Packers opened their 2012 season with a disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers at home, but returned the following Thursday to defeat the Chicago Bears 23-10.

Green Bay will be led by MVP Aaron Rogers at quarterback. Rogers had 48 touchdown passes a season ago, but has not started out as sharp this season nevertheless, he can shred the secondary of any team in the league. Tonight, Rogers will have one of his favorite targets back in the lineup. Greg Jennings, one of the best receivers on the team, missed the Chicago game due to a strained groin, but practiced all week and will go tonight.

The Seahawks have a rookie at quarterback. Russell Wilson was drafted by the team out of the University of Wisconsin. Wilson beat out Matt Flynn for the starting quarterback job following a good preseason. The rookie has shown a maturity beyond his years and a great deal of poise in the pocket. If his offensive line can give him time, he can give the Packers secondary a tough time in tonight’s matchup.

With Jennings back in the lineup, the Packers have one of the league’s best receiving corps and will look to get the ball down field quickly and put points on the board. Seattle will look to establish a running game to run time off the clock and keep the Green Bay offense off the field for long stretches of time if possible.

The line currently has Green Bay as the road favorite by 3 ½. The total is at this time on 44 1/2. Bettors by a margin of two to one are taking Green Bay less the points, while 3 of 4 bettors are taking the OVER to cash out on a high scoring contest.
