Patriots vs Ravens Free Pick

The third week of the NFL has an intriguing rematch, as the Baltimore Ravens are at home to face the New England Patriots. The two teams met in last season’s AFC Championship that was won 23-20 by New England when Baltimore missed a short field goal that would have tied the game at the end of regulation.

The Ravens and Patriots are each 1-1 SU this season. Both teams lost last week in the closing seconds of their games. New England lost when placer kicker Stephan Gostkowski missed a field goal as the game clock ran out. Baltimore lost when Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick dived over from one yard out to score the winning touchdown. Even though Baltimore turned the ball over on two occasions, they played as well as any team could on the road against a touch Eagles team

The Ravens will rely on Joe Flacco at quarterback and Ray Rice at running back to power the offense. Defensively, the Ravens have veterans like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed who have played 17 and 11 years respectively in the league. The two helped the Baltimore defense to be one of the best for the past 10 seasons, but age is creeping up on both and they might be a step slower than before.

The Patriots will have all-pro Tom Brady at quarterback who can pass against any team in the league. The offense thus far is ranked third in the league. Defensively the Patriots had a hard time stopping opponents last season, but thus far, after just two games, the Patriot defense is ranked second in total yards allowed.

The Ravens lost the AFC Championship by 3 points last season, but covered as a 7-point ‘dog. New England is 8-1 SU against Baltimore in their past 9 head to head matchups. The total has cashed out to the OVER in 5 of the past 6 games New England has played as a roadie.

The line at present has Baltimore as the favorite by 2 ½. The total for over/under is at 50. Take the Patriots and the 2 ½. The total will cash out to bettors taking the OVER.
