No. 22 Arizona at No. 3 Oregon

Want to find the highest-scoring game of Week 4 in college football? It’s rather likely it could come at Oregon as Arizona visits in a Top-10 matchups of two of the nation’s top offenses. The Ducks are 23.5-point favorites with the total at 77 on

Rich Rodriguez already has the Arizona program turned around, it seems as the Cats are No. 7 in the nation in passing and No. 12 in scoring – they have totaled 115 points in the past two games after a slow start in the opener vs. Toledo. Last week, Arizona beat South Carolina State 56-0. Matt Scott threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns on 30-of-36 passing, and added a 10-yard scoring run in another stellar performance to start his senior season. Arizona’s up-tempo offense ran a school-record 102 plays and had 689 total yards, two short of another record.

The Ducks are No. 5 in the nation in scoring and topped 60 for the first time this season last week with a 63-14 warm-up domination of Tennessee Tech. Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 308 yards (the first Oregon freshman to top 300) and four touchdowns before the starters were pulled. Star running back De’Anthony Thomas had 222 all-purpose yards on 10 touches. He ran for a 59-yard touchdown and caught a 16-yard scoring pass from Mariota. Thomas is averaging 17.5 yards per carry this season and has scored seven touchdowns on 24 offensive touches. The Ducks piled up 652 yards in total offense compared to the Golden Eagles’ 177 yards, but Oregon had an uncharacteristic 12 penalties for 105 yards.

Thomas leads the nation with seven all-purpose plays of 30 or more yards and is tied for the national lead with seven touchdowns. Mariota leads the Pac-12 and ranks 10th nationally in passing efficiency with a rating of 180.54. UO has scored 30 or more points in 16 straight games, the second-longest streak in the FBS behind Oklahoma State (18). The Ducks are 35-2 when scoring 30-plus in the Chip Kelly era.

Oregon leads the all-time series with the Wildcats, 23-14, including a 12-4 mark in Eugene. The Ducks have won four straight overall and 11 of the last 13 meetings, including last season’s Pac-12 opener for both schools in Tucson (56-31). The Ducks have never lost a game from Week 2 through Week 8 (23-0) in Chip Kelly’s tenure as a head coach. trends: Ducks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Ducks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Ducks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in September. Wildcats are 4-9 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. Wildcats are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games. Wildcats are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games. Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. Wildcats are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings. Underdog is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.

Sportsbook Advisor take is that Oregon is a machine that gets better every wee and will really make a statement here with a big blow out win. We are looking at Oregon being in the championship game at the end of the season.
