Giants vs Panthers Free Pick

September 20, 2012

Teams in the NFL will be playing their third game of the season this week and tonight two meet in what will be an intriguing game. The Carolina Panthers 1-1 SU and ATS will host the New York Giants who are 1-1 SU and 0-2 STS. Both teams won last weekend after losing their opening games of the season.

The Giants had to come from behind last week to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Eli Manning the Giants quarterback had an unimpressive start last week and was intercepted three times in the first half, including one that was returned for a TD. However, in the second half he was a picture of perfection and ended the game with 510 yards passing and three TD passes.

The Panthers used the rush to wear down the New Orleans Saints to win 35-27. The Panthers rushed the ball 41 times for 219 yards and Cam Newton threw for 243 yards. On the defense, the Panthers gave up more than 160 yards on the ground to New Orleans. That is not a good sign, as New Orleans is known more for its passing game than running attack. Nevertheless, the Panthers defense bent but did not break and recorded two interceptions on the day.

The Giants may be without starting running back Ahmad Bradshaw who is uncertain at this time and they will be without the services of starter Hakeem Hicks at wide receiver. That could hurt Manning’s passing attack since the running attack might not be up to par and the Panther defense can key on the passing game.

The two teams met in 2010 and New York won the game 31-18 and covered a spread of 5 ½ points as the favorite. The line currently has Carolina as the favorite at home by 3 points with the over under total resting at 49.5. Bettors at a rate of two to one are taking the Panthers less the points. Those taking the total will cash out on the OVER.
