Dodgers vs Nationals Free Pick

The baseball season is coming to a close quickly, as half of September has passed and October will soon be here. That means division races and wildcard slots are up for grabs in all six divisions. Two teams looking to make the postseason hook up tonight in Washington, D.C. when the Los Angeles Dodgers come to town to face the Washington Nationals.

The Dodgers added a number of new players to their roster trying to make the playoffs. The new players are getting accustomed to playing in Los Angeles and are battling for a wildcard spot in the National League.

With just under 20 games left in the regular season, Los Angeles is just a game behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the race for the second wildcard berth. However, the Dodgers face a tougher battle over the next nine games than the Cardinals do. Los Angeles will play two divisional leaders during their next nine games, while the Cardinals will play nine straight games against teams that are currently playing under .500 baseball.

Washington’s magic number is three to qualify for the postseason. If the Nationals qualify, it will be the franchise’s first appearance in the postseason since 1981. The Nationals are coming off three straight defeats to second place Atlanta over the weekend. In head-to-head games against the Dodgers, the Nationals are 0-5 over the last five and 2-9 over the past 11.

Tonight the Dodgers will send Aaron Harang to the mound to face the Nationals. Harang is 9-9 this season. The veteran has pitched well of late giving up three runs or less in all of his last seven appearances. He will be opposed on the mound by the Nationals’ Jordan Zimmermann. He is 10-8 this season and has not pitched against Los Angeles since the early part of May 2009.

The line has the Nationals favored at -145 and the Dodgers at +130. The total is 8. Bettors by a two to one margin are taking the Nationals to win. Those betting on the total are opting for the UNDER to cash out.
