Rutgers vs South Florida Free Pick September 13 2012

September 13, 2012

College football is well under way and tonight two Big East conference rivals meet when the Rutgers Scarlet Knights head south to face the South Florida Bulls in Tampa. The season has started in similar fashion for both teams, as they are both 2-0 SU on the season. However, Rutgers is 0-2 ATS while South Florida is 1-1 ATS.

The Scarlet Knights started their season with a win against Tulane 24-12 and added to that last week by defeating Howard University by the score of 26-0. The Bulls of South Florida opened in impressive fashion beating Chattanooga 34-13 and followed that up last week with a thrilling win over Nevada 32-31. In 2011, Rutgers hosted South Florida and won 20-17 in a game that was won in overtime.

South Florida is led by B.J. Daniels their quarterback. The fifth year QB came to the school as a huge running threat at QB, but has turned into a fine passer. Thus far in the season, he has thrown for six touchdowns while giving up just one interception. Because the Scarlet Knights have a tough front seven and play well against the run, look for the Bulls to open the game up and start throwing the ball early.

Rutgers has averaged over 310 yards in its first two games, but will be facing a much stronger defense in South Florida, than its first two opponents. The Scarlet Knights have had trouble at quarterback, as starter Gary Nova has been inconsistent this season throwing for just three touchdowns while giving up two interceptions. Defensively, the Scarlet Knights have a very strong front line and will look to shut down the Bulls running game.

The line on the game currently has the Bulls of South Florida as the favorite by 8 points with the total for the over under resting at 44. Smart money takes Rutgers and the 8 points, with the total cashing out to those taking the OVER.
