Panthers vs Bearcats Free Pick September 6 2012

September 06, 2012

The Pittsburgh Panthers visit the Cincinnati Bearcats tonight in an early season matchup of Big East Conference rivals. Pittsburgh is 0-1 on the season, having lost last weekend to the Youngstown State Penguins, while it will be the opening game of the season for the Bearcats.

Last season the two schools met in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati came away with the win 26-23. The Bearcats had been favored in that game by 3 ½ points and failed to cash out as the favorite. The point total for the over-under in the game was 54 ½ and easily paid out to those bettors who took the UNDER, as the two teams scored only 49 points between them.

In last week’s opening game of the season for Pittsburgh, the Panthers were humiliated by Youngstown State. The Penguins won 31-17 and were ahead at one point by as many as 18 points. In that game, the defense for Pittsburgh gave up more than 200 yards rushing. The Youngstown offense was able to hold the ball and ended the game with 10 minutes more in time of possession than Pittsburgh.

Butch Jones the Bearcats head coach will be starting is third season with the school and last year his team finished 10-3 and defeated Vanderbilt in the Liberty Bowl 31-24. Returning to quarterback the team will be Munchie Legeaux who had five touchdown tosses last season offset by 4 interceptions. Cincinnati has replaced both running backs from last season, who left due to graduation, but two of their top receivers from last season return.

The Panthers are 6-1 ATS in the past seven games versus the Bearcats. The line currently has the Bearcats as the favorite by 4 points. The total for over/under is at 48 ½. Smart money takes the Bearcats to win both ATS and SU, with the total cashing out to those who take the UNDER.
