Cowboys vs Giants Free Pick September 5 2012
Hank Williams might not be singing the title song any longer, but are you ready for SOME FOOTBALL? The NFL 2012-2013 season kicks off tonight when the Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Giants, the defending Super Bowl champs, beat the Cowboys in two regular season meetings last season, including the last game of the regular season to win the NFC East title and reach the playoffs. New York then proceeded to win four consecutive playoff games and raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Super Bowl win was the fourth for the Giants franchise.
For Dallas, last season was yet another frustrating season with high expectations and mediocre results. Jerry Jones the team owner has told his coaches and players the window of opportunity is quickly closing and the team needs to win soon, very soon. Jones said big changes could take place if the team does not make it into the playoffs.
Dallas will be led by Tony Romo at quarterback and the return of DeMarco Murray in the backfield. Romo had 31 tosses for touchdowns last season and Murray suffered a season ending injury last year in the season’s first game.
The defense for the Cowboys has a number of changes at the linebacker positions and the secondary with first round draft pick Morris Claiborne. Pass rushing specialist DeMarcus Ware will be giving Giants quarterback Eli Manning fits all night.
The Giants have Manning leading the way on the offense. He threw for 29 touchdowns last season and close to 5,000 passing yards.
The Cowboys have lost six consecutive games ATS against opponents from the NFC East.
The current line has the Giants as the favorite at home by 4 points. The current over/under point total is resting comfortably at 45. Smart money will take the total to pay out to the UNDER.
