St. Louis Rams 2012 Outlook and Odds

The St. Louis Rams had a dreadful season in 2011, winning just 2 of 16 games. The previous year they had won 7 and lost 9 many felt they were turning the corner and might even win the NFC North in 2011. However, that was not the case as they had a number of injuries that decimated the team on both sides of the ball. This season the Rams will have Jeff Fisher at the helm. He coached the Tennessee Titans for 17 seasons. He never won a Super Bowl in Tennessee but is respected by everyone in the league.

The Rams used free agency in the offseason to try to bolster their lineup. They signed Cortland Finnegan to a huge contract hoping the cornerback can give them better pass coverage. They also signed free agents Scott Wells, Kendall Langford, Rocky McIntosh, Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Trevor Laws.

Sam Bradford, considered by many to be the next superstar quarterback, will try to turn things around offensively for the team. Last season the Rams averaged just 12 points a game offensively, as Bradford was out injured for six of the 16 games. The offense only could muster 284 yards per game from scrimmage. Steven Jackson is still around at running back and is the Rams career rushing leader and the only Ram to ever rush for 1,000 yards in seven straight seasons.

Defensively they gave up over 25 points per game last season but should be one of the leagues most improved, as they went to the draft to pick up Michael Brockers from LSU who is expected to start on the DL from the first game on. Odds makers have the Rams over/under win total at 6 games with both sides carrying a -115 total. To win the NFC West they are 10-1, to win the NFC Championship they are 40-1and to win the Super Bowl they are 75-1.
