Rangers vs Yankees Free Pick August 14 2012

August 14, 2012

The two best teams in the American League and two of the best in all of baseball meet tonight in the Big Apple. The New York Yankees host the Texas Rangers in the second game of a three game series. The Yankees took the first game by the score of 8-2 to extend their home winning streak against the Rangers to six straight. The Rangers have not had a win in New York since April of 2009 and over that stretch, the Rangers have been outscored by New York 46-19.

Both teams lead their respective division. The Yankees lead Baltimore in the AL East by five games, while Texas leads the Oakland A’s in the AL West by six games. New York owns a season record of 68-47, while the Rangers are just one game back of that total with a record of 67-48.

The Rangers will try to turn their luck around in the Bronx tonight by sending southpaw Matt Harrison to the mound. Harrison has a record this season of 13-6 and a 3.31 ERA. He leads the Rangers in wins with 13, but over his past four appearances is only 1-2 with a 5.55 ERA. He is 2-2 in his career against New York, with a 4.25 ERA.

New York will try to add to their AL East lead by sending Hiroki Kuroda to the mound. The right hander is 10-8 for the season with a 3.24 ERA. He is 2-1 over his last five appearances with a 1.82 ERA. However, when facing the Rangers, Kuroda has a record of 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in two career starts.

The line currently has New York as the favorite at home at -135 and Texas at +125. The total is currently 9.5. Take the Yankees to win this game and extend the Rangers losing streak in New York to seven. The total will cash out to the bettors who take the OVER.
