Rookies That Will Make an Impact
The NFL preseason has just started and a number of rookies are getting accustomed to their new surroundings. The players are quickly learning how different the professional game is from the collegiate one. Five rookies that should make everyone’s list to make an impact are Robert Griffin III, David Wilson, Lavonte David, Doug Martin and Ryan Tannehill. Rookies start their careers being judged by their coaches and quickly judged fellow players and fans.
These five players will help their teams in a significant way and might even help them reach the playoffs or even the Super Bowl.
Robert Griffin III was the Heisman Trophy winner and considered the best athlete to come into the NFL in many years. He will be pressured from the first whistle, as there are very high expectations from the Washington Redskins owners, coaches and fans. He has been listed as the savior of the franchise and the one to lead them back to superiority in the league. Griffin III can throw well and he will impact the NFC East and the rest of the league from the start.
David Wilson was drafted by the Giants to sure up their running game. He is expected to cause great problems to defenses. He and Ahmad Bradshaw will help to make the Giants backfield even more difficult to stop. With his running ability, the passing attack led by Eli Manning will be that much better. Wilson also will be used to return punts and kick offs.
Linebacker Lavonte David, drafted by Tampa Bay should start immediately for the team. In his first preseason game, he had a tackle for lost yardage and an interception. If he can stay healthy, the Buccaneer defense will be tough.
Doug Martin was also chosen by the Buccaneers, but he will help their running attack. His backfield teammate LeGarrette Blount believe the two will become the best running duo in the league. Against Miami in his first preseason game, he looked strong and powerful.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill will get the chance to play and play early. At first, it was thought he would get a year to learn the pro game, but after seeing him against the Bucs in the first preseason game, many believe he may be the starter by early October if not sooner.
