Virginia Tech is the 19th ranked team on College Football Live’s Top 25. The Hokies are coming off a year of near misses. They just missed going to the ACC Championship Game, coming in second in their division to Clemson. They nearly won a BCS Bowl, losing a tight Sugar Bowl to Michigan.
Now it is time to rebuild for the Hokies. The have only three returning starters on offense, and none on the offensive line. So they will rely on defense. Betting alert: Take the under on Va Tech games.
Tech has had eight straight years of at least ten wins. And this coaching staff has been in tact all that time. So these guys have been here before and they always get their team to perform.
Tech has a difficult schedule this year. They have the usual ACC games, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Florida State, and Miami and also at Pitt and at Cincinnati. So winning ten this year will be quite an accomplishment, especially with the young and inexperienced offense.
Look for Tech to struggle offensively early in the season and perhaps lose a game you wouldn’t have thought.
The first game of the year is a home game against Georgia Tech. That’s a tough way to start the season.
Logan Thomas is one of the returning starters at quarterback. He passed for over 3000 yards last year, but he loses his top three receivers.
Wagerweb has Va Tech at +265 to win the ACC. Only Florida State has lower odds than that. Since Va Tech is in the other division, Wager Web likes them to be in the ACC Championship Game.
But remember, like always Tech will have a tough defense led by NFL veteran defensive coordinator Bud Foster. So you will want to trend towards betting the under a lot on Tech games. Two games I like Tech on are the Pitt and Cincinnati games. I think the Big East is soft and Tech should be better than those two. Plus being on the road, the point spreads will be favorable.
