Marlins vs Nationals Free Pick August 4 2012

The National League East race is heating up between the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves. The Nationals lead the Braves by just two games after splitting a double header on Friday night against the Miami Marlins. Washington has won 6 of their last 10 games, but the Braves are 9-1 over their last 10 games and are closing in on the Nationals. Tonight the Nationals take on the Miami Marlins in the third game of their four game series. Washington is 63-43 on the season and the Marlins are just 49-59. Miami is out of playoff contention 10 games under .500.

Miami will have Mark Buehrle pitching tonight against the Nationals. The southpaw is 9-10 this season with a 3.60 ERA. He is 0-2 in his last three games pitched with a 7.52 ERA. Buehrle needs just one more win to reach 10 making it the 12th straight season he has recorded at least 10 victories. He defeated the Nationals in mid July 2-1 fanning seven. Miami’s win in the second game of the doubleheader on Friday was their first win in their past four games against the Nationals on the road.

Facing off against Buehrle for the Nationals will be Jordan Zimmermann. The right hander is 8-6 this season with a 2.28 ERA. In tonight’s game, he will be trying to win his sixth straight decision. In his last seven appearances, Zimmerman is 5-0 with a 1.02 ERA. He defeated the Marlins 5-1 on July 13 by pitching six scoreless innings. He beat Milwaukee 4-1 this last Saturday in his last start.

Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 23 games for the Marlins by going 3-5 in last night’s second game. The line currently has Washington favored at -170 to the Marlins’ +160. The total is resting at 7.5. Take Washington to win and the total to pay out to the UNDER.
