Major League Baseball completes another great weekend of action today and in one great matchup, the Chicago White Sox will face the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas. Thus far, the White Sox have won the first two games of the series and look to complete a sweep tonight.
If the White Sox are successful, it will be their first sweep of Texas, at Texas, in more than 27 years. The White Sox came into the series with a three game winning streak and have extended that to five. They also recently took over first place in their division, the American League Central. Their play of recent gives no indication they plan to give up the top spot any time soon.
The Rangers have had one of baseball’s best records all season long and are currently in first place in the American League West, but another loss could cut their lead to just 2 ½ games over Oakland and 3 over Los Angeles. Tonight the Rangers will send Scott Feldman to the mound. Feldman has a season record of 4-6 with an ERA of 5.37. Feldman has pitched well of late and is 4-0 in his last five appearances, which were four starts and one appearance out of the bullpen. Feldman is 1-1 in his career against the White Sox in six appearances – five starts and from the bullpen.
The White Sox will hand the ball tonight to Gavin Floyd. Floyd is 8-8 this season with an ERA of 4.46. Floyd is 4-1 in his past five starts with an excellent ERA of just 1.67. His career versus the Rangers is up and down. Overall, against Texas his record is just 2-4. In his seven appearances against Texas, Floyd has an ERA of less than one in three starts and an ERA of over 10 in the other four starts.
Tonight’s line has the Rangers as the favorite -144 at home with the White Sox at +134. The total is currently sitting at 10.5. Smart money will take the Rangers to win tonight with the total cashing out to those bettors taking the OVER.
