Baltimore will look to win tonight to avoid being swept at home against the Rays and will send Chris Tillman to the mound. Tillman has a record of 2-1 this season with a 1.15 ERA in only three starts since being called up from the Orioles minor league team. In his two wins, he has given up just three runs in 15 innings on the mound.
The Rays will counter Tillman with James Shields. Shields is 8-6 for the season with a 4.39 ERA. Last Friday, he gave up just three earned runs allowing four hits while striking out 10 over 7 2/3 innings. The game went 14 innings, but the team eventually defeated Seattle. He has faced the Orioles just once this season and allowed four earned runs in 6 ½ innings in a 9-8 win.
