Rays vs Orioles Free Pick July 26 2012

July 26, 2012

Tonight two American League East teams end a three game series in Baltimore. The Tampa Bay Rays look to sweep the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Camden Yards. Both teams have the same overall record of 51-47. Over the last ten games, both teams are 5-5, but Tampa has won their last two games, while Baltimore has dropped three straight. Both teams trail the AL East leading New York Yankees by eight games and both are 2 ½ games out of the American League wildcard playoff race.

The Rays defeated the Orioles on Wednesday 10-1. With the win, David Price became the majors’ first 14-game winner. On Wednesday, the Rays picked up Ryan Roberts in a trade with Arizona and Roberts paid off early by hitting a home run and scoring a pair of runs in his first game in a Rays’ uniform.

Baltimore will look to win tonight to avoid being swept at home against the Rays and will send Chris Tillman to the mound. Tillman has a record of 2-1 this season with a 1.15 ERA in only three starts since being called up from the Orioles minor league team. In his two wins, he has given up just three runs in 15 innings on the mound.

The Rays will counter Tillman with James Shields. Shields is 8-6 for the season with a 4.39 ERA. Last Friday, he gave up just three earned runs allowing four hits while striking out 10 over 7 2/3 innings. The game went 14 innings, but the team eventually defeated Seattle. He has faced the Orioles just once this season and allowed four earned runs in 6 ½ innings in a 9-8 win.

Tonight’s line has the Orioles at -105 with the Rays at -115. The total is at 9. This game will be close with the Orioles winning it late. Take Baltimore to win and the total to cash out UNDER.
