White Sox vs Dodgers Free Pick June 16, 2012

June 16, 2012

Out west, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in complete control. The Dodgers own the league’s best record at 41-24 and tonight take on the Chicago White Sox in game two of their three game set at Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers won the first game of the series to extend Chicago’s losing streak to three. The White Sox are 34-30 on the season and will send Philip Humber to the mound tonight. Humber pitched a perfect game earlier this season, but lately he has not fared well, and could lose his spot in the rotation.

Humber is 2-4 on the season with an ERA of 5.92. Since he threw a perfect game, Humber is 1-4 with an ERA of 7.50 over nine starts. Over his last two starts, his results have been worse, as he has given up 11 total runs, five home runs and six walks. Another rough start and Humber could find himself becoming a long reliever.

The Dodgers will counter with Chad Billingsley. The right-hander is 4-4 on the season with an ERA of 3.57. He will be attempting to win his third straight in tonight’s game. In both of this last two starts, Billingsley has given up just one run in seven innings. On Sunday, he allowed a home run and another hit, struck out eight and earned an 8-2 win against Seattle.

The Dodgers will look to Andre Ethier for their offense, as their MVP Matt Kemp is still sidelined with a hamstring pull. Playing in his absence has been Elian Herrera who has 7 hits in his last 19 at bats over the past six games.

The line has the Dodgers as the favorite playing at home -130, with the White Sox at +115. The total is resting at 7.5. The Dodgers will win this game with solid pitching from Billingsley and the hitting of Ethier. The total will pay out to those who take the OVER.
