White Sox vs Cardinals Free Pick June 13, 2012

June 13, 2012

The Chicago White Sox face the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a three game series tonight. The White Sox won the first game of the series but will face a tough pitcher tonight for the Cardinals. Lance Lynn will take the mound for St. Louis and he has impressed all season long.

The right-hander will be going for his 10th win of the season. Lynn currently is 9-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.66. He was not penciled in as a starter this season, but got his chance when Chris Carpenter was lost with a shoulder injury in March. Lynn has given up three or less runs in all but one of his 12 starts and has 74 strikes outs in just 74 innings pitched.

However, he will have to out duel Chicago’s Jake Peavy to get a win tonight. Peavy is 6-1 this season with an ERA of 3.05. Since joining the American League after playing with the San Diego Padres, Peavy has a record of 6-0 with an ERA of 1.81 in six interleague starts. The White Sox right-hander has not pitched against the Cardinals for four seasons, but has pitched well on the road. Dating to late last season, Peavy has six wins and no losses in his last eight road starts.

Chicago won the opener of the series 6-1 last night and has increased their record on the road this season to an impressive 18-9, the best in the league. Paul Konerko and Adam Dunn added the offensive punch on the night for the White Sox.

St. Louis lost for the ninth time over their last 13 games and could fall below .500 with a loss tonight. They have not been under .500 later than April of any season since they ended the season 78-84 in 2007.

The current line has the Cardinals favored -150 with the White Sox at +140. The run total is resting at 8. Take the Cardinals to end their two-game losing streak behind Lynn. The total will make winners of those who take the UNDER
