Mets vs Yankees Free Pick June 8, 2012

The Subway Series starts tonight, as the New York Mets travel a couple of boroughs to take on their rival the New York Yankees. Interleague action heats up again this weekend in the majors and this series should have its share of fireworks.

The Yankees are 31-25 on the season and before losing Thursday to Tampa had won 10 of their last 13 games. The Yankees trail co-leaders the Baltimore Orioles and the Rays in the American league east by just a half game.

Hitting the mound for the Yankees will by Hiroki Kuroda who has a record of 4-6 and a 3.82 ERA. He did not pitch well against the Mets during his time playing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lifetime he is just 1-5 with an ERA of 5.75 in seven starts against the Mets.

The Mets will counter with Johan Santana. Santana is coming of a no-hitter in his last appearance and should be very fresh as he has not pitched since that no-hitter and has had two extra days of rest. Santana has a record of 3-2 with a 2.38 ERA this season and has won his last three decisions after dropping his first two. Santana however, is 0-2 in the new Yankee Stadium and has given up 13 runs over nine innings allowing the Yankees to hit two homers and bat.405 against him.

Last year, the Mets lost four of the six meetings between the two teams including going 1-2 at Yankee Stadium. The Mets ended a three game losing streak on Thursday after defeating Washington 3-1.

The line opened for this Subway Series with the Yankees favored at home -130 to the Mets +120. The total is sitting at 8.5. The Mets will win game one of the series behind the arm of Santana, while the total will cash out to those who like high scoring games and take the OVER.
