Thunder vs Spurs Free Pick May 29, 2012

May 29, 2012

The western conference best of seven final series features game two tonight in San Antonio. The Oklahoma City Thunder were defeated in game one 101-98 by the San Antonio Spurs. The win was the 19th straight for the Spurs and their ninth straight in the playoffs. The Spurs have not lost for 47 days and with one more win would be just the fourth team in the NBA to ever win 20 or more straight games.

The Thunder will have a lot to say about whether the Spurs win their 20th straight. In game one, the Thunder led the Spurs heading into the fourth quarter by 9 points. However, the Spurs went on a 12-3 run to open the quarter and with nine minutes left in the game tied the score. The Thunder gave up 39 points to the Spurs in the fourth quarter. In the previous three quarters of the game, the Spurs could only manage a total of 62 points.

The Thunder needs more aggressive play on defense. The Spurs on the other hand need to control the boards more, get more second chance opportunities and take advantage of Thunder turnovers. Scott Brooks, the head coach for the Thunder, said he should have played Serge Ibaka sooner in the fourth quarter for defensive purposes.

The halftime score of the game 47-46 in favor of Oklahoma City, cashed out to the UNDER and to the Thunder as a 3 ½-point halftime ‘dog. The total for the game also paid out to the UNDER. The score produced 199 points while the total was 204. The Thunder covered an underdog spread of 5 ½ points, as they lost by only three.

The line opened up with the Spurs as the favorite playing at home by 4 ½ points. The total opened at 204 but has been reduced to 201 ½. Smart money takes the Thunder plus the points. The total will cash out to the OVER.
