Thunder vs Spurs Free Pick May 27, 2012

May 27, 2012

The Western Conference NBA finals get underway tonight in Texas. The San Antonio Spurs host the Oklahoma City Thunder in what is expected to be an exciting, high scoring, end to end series. San Antonio and Oklahoma City finished one two in the final regular season standings in the conference and it has showed thus far in the playoffs.

The Spurs have swept both of their previous series beating Utah and the Lost Angeles Clippers, while the Thunder swept Dallas in the first round and beat the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in the second round. San Antonio has not lost since April 11. They are 18-0 since that date.

The Spurs will use three veterans as their main weapons. Tony Parker leads the Spurs in both scoring and assists. Tim Duncan, the 15-year veteran is averaging double figures in both scoring and rebounding and defensively clogs up the middle. Manu Ginobili is an excellent defender for the Spurs and one of their best three point shooters.

The Spurs will stretch their opponents defense by scoring three pointers and that will end up opening the inside for Duncan to take advantage. San Antonio led the league from behind the three-point arc with a 39% average.

Oklahoma City’s offense will feature the league’s high scorer, Kevin Durant and the teams second leading scoring and leader in assists, Russell Westbrook. James Harden is also a scoring threat and will be a key defender against Ginobili.

The two teams met on three occasions this season and the Spurs were 2-1 SU in those head-to-head games. The teams will put up high numbers in the scoring column.

The line opened earlier in the week with the Spurs favored by 5 and that has increased to 5 ½. The total is at 204 ½. Smart money takes the Spurs less the points, with the total ending OVER
