Heat vs Pacers Free Pick May 24, 2012

May 24, 2012

The eastern conference semifinal series between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers has been back and forth for the first five games. Tonight in game six, the Heat will visit the Pacers and try to eliminate them for the playoffs. Miami leads the series 3-2 after defeating the Pacers handily in game five. However, the Heat will be shorthanded three players for tonight’s game.

The NBA suspended two of the Heat players for tonight’s game. Udonis Haslem, the Heat’s starting forward will miss game six due to his suspension for a flagrant foul against the Pacers’ Tyler Harsbrough. Dexter Pittman, the Heat’s backup center, was also suspended for tonight’s game and two additional games for a flagrant foul. On top of that, the Heat still is without the services of starting center Chris Bosh who has missed four games due to an abdominal strain.

Nevertheless, the Heat has the league’s MVP to carry the load. LeBron James has stepped up his game in the last two games. He has scored 40 and 30 in those two games. His teammate Dwayne Wade has also picked up his game offensively. He has scored 30 and 28 over the last two games.

Indiana will look to take advantage of the shorthanded Heat and attack their frontcourt. The Pacers will get the ball in low to center Roy Hibbert and forwards Harsbrough and David West to attempt to get the Miami big men in early foul trouble. Indiana will also look to high scorer Danny Granger to open the low post with his outside shooting.

The current line has the Heat as a 1 ½-point favorite after opening at 3 ½ points. The line has narrowed due to the suspensions announced on Wednesday. The total is resting at 182. The Pacers will win game six and send the series back to Miami for game seven. Take Indiana plus the points and the total to end OVER.
