Lakers vs Thunder Free Pick May 21, 2012

The Los Angeles Lakers are on the brink of elimination. On Monday May 21, the Lakers will play the Oklahoma City Thunder in game five of their semifinal series. The Lakers trail the Thunder 3-1 after OKC outscored the Lakers by 12 points in the fourth quarter of game four to win 103-100 in Los Angeles.

The Thunder received an impressive game from Russell Westbrook. Westbrook scored a team high 37 points and dished out five assists. The Lakers were led, as usual, by Kobe Bryant who led all scorers with 38. The Lakers two big men Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum disappeared during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s loss. After the first three quarters, the two had 26 points between them, but they combined for just two in the decisive fourth quarter.

Kevin Durant scored 31 for the Thunder in the game and led the team with 13 rebounds. He also scored a three-pointer with 13 seconds left to give the Thunder their margin of victory. The Lakers were only 2 for 10 during the last five minutes of the last quarter with the score within five points. On game-tying or go ahead shots in the last 24 seconds of a game, Durant is shooting 43.5%. In similar shots, Bryant is only shooting 16.7%.

Bryant only made 2 of his 8 shots during the last six minutes Saturday night. During the series, Bryant is only 3 for 17 in the last six minutes of games and during the last six minutes of game four, the Lakers were outscored by 12 points, with Bryant on the floor.

The line opened early with the Thunder as a 6-point favorite, but has increased to 7 points. The total is resting at 189 ½. The Thunder will end this series at home on Monday with a SU victory, but take the Lakers plus the points ATS and the total will pay out to the OVER bettors.
