Clippers vs Spurs Free Pick May 19, 2012

May 18, 2012

Saturday night May 19, the San Antonio Spurs visit Los Angeles to take on the LA Clippers in game three of their best of seven series. The Spurs have dominated the series and are leading 2-0 after defeating the Clippers 105-88 in game two. The win was the 16th consecutive for the Spurs dating back to April 11.

San Antonio has won both games by double-digit differences and their three superstars Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are dominating game in and game out. Duncan is 36 and says he is playing better and feeling younger than when he was 30.

Parker took advantage of a hobbled Chris Paul to score 22 points for the Spurs. In all, five players for the Spurs scored in double figures in game two. Duncan scored 18 points to help the Spurs’ cause.

The Clippers are hurting due to not only losing the first two games, but because of injuries. Paul’s hip flexor strain has slowed his mobility and is affecting him both offensively and defensively. Leading scorer Blake Griffin is just a shell of what he was this season on both ends of the court due to his knee sprain.

The Clippers big men including Griffin and DeAndre Jordan are getting a schooling in playoff basketball by the old man on the block Duncan. Griffin scored 20 in game two, but only grabbed a single rebound, that from someone who averaged over 11 each game in the regular season.

Now, the Clippers have two games on their home court to get their heads back together and they cannot put their heads down. They need to continue to do what got them here and continue to rely on the play of Paul and Griffin.

The line opened with the Spurs as a 3 1/2-point favorite on the road and has narrowed to just 3 points. The total is resting on 193. Smart money takes the Spurs to continue their winning streak and the total to end OVER.
