Blue Jays vs Angels Free Pick May 5, 2012

The Los Angeles Angels host the Toronto Blue Jays in the third game of their four game series. The Angels were expected to explode from the starting gates this season with their acquisition of Albert Pujols, but that has not been the case. The Angels are just 10-17 and have lost two straight to the Blue Jays. Toronto on the other hand is 16-11 on the season and showing they can complete again in their division. The Blue Jays have shut out the Angels in the first two games of the series and will be going for their fifth consecutive win on Saturday.

Pujols is mired in a slump. His batting average is just .194 and he was hitless in four at bats Friday night. In his last 14 games, the three-time MVP has just 5 hits in 54 at bats and a single RBI. The Angels have a team batting average of just .239 and have been shutout in six games thus far in the season.

C.J. Wilson will pitch for the Angles tonight, Wilson is 3-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.70. The southpaw pitched 7 2/3 innings in his last outing against Minnesota in a 4-3 win. He will face Kyle Drabek. Drabek is 2-2 with an ERA of 2.40. The young right hander has not given up more than two runs in any of his five starts thus far in the season. He is 0-2 however in his last two starts, as he has not been given any run support by the Toronto bats.

Toronto is 6-1 over their last seven games and has outscored its opponents by 25 runs during that stretch. Toronto ‘s heavy hitter, Adam Lind, will be happy to see Wilson on the mound as he is 4 for 7 against the lefty. The line has the Angels as the favorite -160 and the Blue Jays at +155. The run total opened at 7.5 but is now at 7. Take the Angels in the game to stop their two game losing streak. The total will end OVER.
