Magic vs Pacers Free Pick April 30, 2012

April 29, 2012

The NBA’s second season is well under way. There have been upsets and injuries along with great finishes. One of the upsets to start the playoffs was in the first game between the Orlando Magic and the Indiana Pacers. The Magic took the series lead 1-0 with a surprising 81-77 win in Indiana. The second game of that matchup is on April 30 in Indiana.

The Pacers will be looking to come back from their opening game loss with a better performance from their backcourt. The Pacers will have to try to control both Jameer Nelson and Jason Richardson to stop the Magic. The Magic went into the game as 9-point underdogs and came out the victors.

The Magic hope to keep that cockiness they found in the first game, knowing they do not have their top scorer and rebounder playing for them. Dwight Howard had season ending back surgery and his absence, though not felt in the first game, could hurt the Magic in the second game.

The Pacers will be looking to control the backcourt game against Orlando. They gave up too many three-point baskets to the Magic. The Pacers played well offensively underneath with David West scoring 19 points and Danny Granger adding 17. Roy Hibbert will have to step up more offensively, as he only had 8 points, but blocked nine shots.

Indiana knows they must win this game. They cannot go to Orlando down 2-0 or else their season will be on the verge of ending early. They also will hope to get Leandro Barbosa healthy. Barbosa played only 20 minutes in the game and scored just three points due to an ankle injury.

The second game’s line opened with Indiana as a 7 ½-point favorite and has already widened to 8 ½. The total is sitting at 191 ½. Indiana may win SU in this matchup, but smart money takes Orlando plus the points and the total to cash out on the UNDER.
