The defending World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals are finding a way to live without superstar Albert Pujols in their lineup and manager Tony LaRussa in the dugout. The Cardinals, leaders of the NL Central with a 14-7 record take on the Milwaukee Brewers who are 9-12 this season in the third game of a weekend series. The Cardinals have taken the first two games of the series and will be looking for their fourth consecutive win.

The offense has powered the Cardinals thus far this season. In the first two games of this series with the Brewers, the Cardinals have scored 20 runs to the Brewers’ four. Carlos Beltran and David Freese each have five home runs to lead the team and Freeses’ 20 RBIs are near the top in the league.

The Brewers are losers of three straight and will give the ball to Zack Greinke to try to turn things around. Greinke is 2-1 this season with an ERA of 4.56. On April 7, he beat St. Louis giving up just four hits over seven innings. In his last six starts against the Cardinals, he is 5-1 with an ERA of 1.93.

The Cardinals will send Jamie Garcia to the mound. Garcia is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.49 on the season. He beat the Brewers on April 6, giving up just two runs over six innings pitched. The southpaw is 4-2 with an ERA of 2.76 in eight starts in the regular season against the Brewers. Cory Hart of the Brewers is 12 for 26 lifetime against Garcia, but has only 1 hit in 7 at bats in his last two games. Overall St. Louis has defeated Milwaukee 14 of out of the last 18 times they have played head to head.
