Celtics vs Hawks, April 20, 2012

The Boston Celtics take on the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta on April 20 in what could be a matchup of the first round of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics wrapped up the Atlantic Division total with a win over the Orlando Magic Wednesday night. The Celtics are 37-26 on the season and are 7-3 SU over their last 10 games. They have also secured the fourth spot in the playoffs and have a slight chance of moving up to the third spot but that is unlikely.

The Hawks are 37-25 on the season and are in fifth place in the conference one game ahead of the Orlando Magic. If the season were to end today, the Celtics and Hawks would meet in the first round of the playoffs. Atlanta has won two consecutive games and is 7-3 SU over their last 10.

The Celtics have three players Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Mickael Pietrus who are listed as day to day on the injury report. All three should be ready for the game against Atlanta. The Hawks have two players out indefinitely due to injuries. Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia will not play.

Head to head Boston and Atlanta are 5-5 SU over the last 10 games the two teams have played against one another. Atlanta is 6-4 ATS in those same games and the total has been UNDER in 6 and OVER in 4 of the games.

This season the two teams have played on two occasions with Boston winning both. Boston defeated Atlanta in March by three points to cover an underdog 2 point spread and nine days ago the Celtics defeated Atlanta in Boston but did not cover a 2 ½ point favorite spread.

This game will be tactical, as both teams will see how the other plays looking ahead to the playoffs. Atlanta wants to stay in fifth place and has more on the line in this game than Boston. Take the Hawks to win ATS with the total UNDER.
