Pistons vs Hawks, April 18, 2012

April 17, 2012

The NBA season is nearing its end and the Detroit Pistons wish it had already ended as they have won just 22 games this season and have been eliminated from any chance of qualifying for the playoffs. On April 18, the Pistons will visit Philips Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta has a record of 36-25 and has clinched a position in the post season. The Hawks want to continue winning in order to maintain their current fifth position in the playoff race.

If the Hawks stay in the fifth spot they will likely face the Boston Celtics and not the Indiana Pacers in the first round. The Pacers are currently the league’s hottest team and have won 9 of their last 10 games.

Detroit is in 10th place in the conference and have lost two straight games and 6 of their last 10. The Pistons are just 7-24 on the road and 17-26 against other teams from the Eastern Conference.

Head to head Atlanta is 7-3 SU against Detroit in the last 10 matchups. The total has been UNDER 6 times and OVER 4 times in those same 10 games. This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season. Atlanta is 2-1 SU in the first three games of this season head to head with Detroit.

The Pistons are 1-3 SU in their last four games. Their only win in that stretch was against the league’s worst team Charlotte. The Hawks are 3-2 SU in their last five games, including a victory over the Orlando Magic.

The Hawks will want to continue to win to clinch the fifth spot in the playoffs and that combined with the Pistons looking to the future mean the Hawks will win SU and ATS in this matchup.
