Mavericks vs Lakers April 15, 2012

April 14, 2012

Two perennial playoff teams hook up at the Staples Center April 15 when the Dallas Mavericks visit the Los Angeles Lakers. Both are once again in the middle of qualifying for the playoffs. Dallas has struggled of late as their record has fallen to 33-26 and they are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference playoff hunt. The Lakers have been without the services of their star player Kobe Bryant due to a shin injury nevertheless, they have a record of 37-22 good enough for first place in the Pacific Division and third place in the playoff race in the conference.

Dallas has had their share of injuries this season, but currently the Mavericks are healthy. The Lakers have been without the services of Kobe Bryant for three games and he is currently listed as day to day with his bad shin.

The teams are evenly matched when they meet head to head. Both teams are 5-5 SU in their last 10 games. Dallas however, has the advantage 6-4 ATS in those same games. The total has been OVER 7 times and UNDER 3 times in those matchups. During the current season, the two teams have played on three occasions. The Lakers are 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in those three head to head matchups. The total is those three games has been OVER 2 times and UNDER 1.

Dallas is 2-2 SU over their last four games. During that stretch, the Mavericks defeated Golden State and Sacramento, but lost to Portland and Memphis. The Lakers are also 2-2 SU in their last four games. However, on Wednesday they beat the San Antonio Spurs 98-84. The Spurs prior to their loss against the Lakers had won 11 of 12 games.

If Bryant can play, the Lakers will certainly have the edge. The Lakers want to keep their hold on the third spot in the playoffs as well as first place in their division. Dallas just wants to hold onto one of the last three playoff spots. Take the Lakers less the points in a game that will end OVER.
