New York Clings to Last Playoff Spot

The Chicago Bulls will travel to New York to take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on April 8. The Bulls are trying to maintain the league’s best record, while the Knicks are trying to hold onto the conference’s last playoff spot. Chicago has an overall record of 43-13, 21-7 on the road and 32-7 against conference rivals. Chicago won their last game after losing two straight. The Bulls are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games played.

The Knicks are 29-27 overall and are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games played. At home, the Knicks are 18-10 and 21-17 against conference opponents. Injuries have hurt Chicago this season. MVP Derrick Rose has missed 22 games this season and could sit out this game for the Bulls due to a nagging groin injury. Out indefinitely for the Knicks are Jared Jeffries, Amare Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin.

Chicago holds the series advantage over the Knicks. The Bulls are 7-3 SU in the last 10 games between the two teams. The total has been evenly distributed 5-5 between the OVER-UNDER. This season the clubs have met on two occasions with Chicago winning both. In New York in early February, the Bulls defeated the Knicks 105-102 but failed to cover a 3 1/2 point favorite spread. In mid March, the Bulls defeated the Knicks in Chicago 104-99, but failed to cover an 8-point spread.

Chicago is 3-2 SU over their last five games, including a Thursday night win against the Boston Celtics. The Bulls covered a 6 ½-point spread in their win over the Celtics 93-86. The Knicks have won 3 of their last 5 including a win Thursday night against Orlando 96-80.

This game is very important for the Knicks, as they try to hang on to the last spot in the playoffs. If the season were to end today, the two teams would meet in the first round of the playoffs. In this matchup, take the Bulls less the points and the total will be UNDER.
