Lakers vs. Hornets Preview and Picks

March 31, 2012

Lakers ATS

The NBA calendar for March 31 will see the New Orleans Hornets visit the Los Angeles Lakers in a matchup of one of the league’s best against one of the league’s worst. New Orleans has struggled all season long and is 13-38 overall. They currently have the NBA’s third worst record and only have the NBA Lottery to look forward to at season’s end.

The Lakers have a record of 31-20, but lost a key Western Conference matchup Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Los Angeles lost the game 102-93 on their home court. Nevertheless, the Lakers are currently leading the Pacific division by 1 ‘ games over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers are also in third place in the Western Conference playoff race. They trail the Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.

New Orleans has been decimated by injuries this season. The Hornets currently have five players listed on their injury list. Three are out indefinitely and two are day to day. The Lakers have two players out injured, but both only play reserve roles for the team.

Los Angeles holds a huge edge when the two meet head to head. The Lakers are 8-2 SU and 6-4 ATS in the last 10 games between the two teams. In those same 10 games, the total has been OVER 6 times and UNDER 4 times. The Lakers are outscoring the Hornets in those 10 games by an average of eight points.

The two met once this season, on March 14 and the Lakers edged the Hornets 107-101 in New Orleans. The Lakers covered a 4 ‘-point spread in that game. The total for that game was 180 and it paid out to OVER bettors as the two teams combined for 208 points.

The Lakers will look to get back to winning after their defeat at the hands of Oklahoma City. Every game is crucial down the stretch, but especially those you should win. Smart money takes the Lakers less the points and the total to be UNDER.  Bet this game now at Bet Revolution
