Baylor vs. Kentucky Free Pick

A very interesting matchup will take place at the Georgia Dome on Sunday March 25, when the Baylor Bears take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Baylor arrived at the Elite Eight by defeating the Xavier Musketeers 75-70. They entered that game as a favorite by 6 ‘-points but did not cover the spread with their 5-point win.

Kentucky continued their terrific season with in a high scoring fest 102-90 against the Indiana Hoosiers. They covered the 9 ‘-point favorite spread in the game. The win avenged one of only two losses the Wildcats have suffered the entire season.

Kentucky has worked hard in practice preparing for a game where All-American Anthony Davis gets into early foul problems and cannot produce as he normally does. That paid off for them against Indiana as David picked up two early fouls. Four other players stepped up and carried the load for the Wildcats. Showing how deep the team is from top to bottom.

The Wildcats out rebounded the Hoosiers by nine. They shot 50% from three-point land and 48% overall. They only turned the ball over six times. Davis could face the same pressure against a talented Baylor team and could find himself in early foul trouble again. At least the Wildcats know how to cope, after their win against Indiana.

Baylor showed they are a diverse team against Xavier in their win Friday night. In the three previous NCAA tournament games, the Bears relied on the backcourt duo of Brady Heslip and Pierre Jackson. Last night the two were real business handling Mark Lyons and Tu Holloway. Therefore, the team relied on its miss matches down low and fed the ball all night to Perry Jones and Quincy Acy. Acy scored 20 on 8 of 11 shooting and Jones scored 14 and only missed one field goal all night.

Both teams in this matchup are very athletic. Baylor is used to be the more athletic but will meet their match with Kentucky. The Bears must keep Davis on the bench as long as they can in foul trouble if they expect to have a chance. Kentucky’s depth is overwhelming and they could probably suit up a respectable NBA team.

The line has the Wildcats as 7 1/2-point favorites with the total at 148.
