Miami vs. Minnesota NCAA Basketball Picks

Hurricanes Basketball

The NIT tournament is in full swing and the next round of games will be played on Monday March 19. In one of those matchups, the Minnesota Golden Gophers will take on the Miami Hurricanes. The game will be played at the BankUnited Center.

In Minnesota’s last game, they defeated La Salle by the score of 70-61. The Golden Gophers had entered that game as 2 1/2-point underdogs and easily covered that spread. The Hurricanes won their last outing 66-50 over Valparaiso. Going into that game the Hurricanes were favored by 10 points and covered that spread as they won by 16.

Overall, the Golden Gophers are 20-14 SU on the season and 17-14 ATS. The Hurricanes season has been similar as they are 20-12 SU and 15-13-2 ATS this year. One player is injured for both teams. The Hurricanes will be without Julian Gamble who is out with a knee injury. The Golden Gophers are without their leading rebounder Trevor Mbakwe who was lost for the season with an ACL injury.

The two teams have met only once in the last two plus years. In December of 2009, the Hurricanes beat the Golden Gophers 63-58. Miami covered the 2-point spread as the favorite in that game. The game total was set at 132 for that game but was UNDER as only 121 points were scored.

Minnesota is 3-2 SU over their last five games as they lost to Michigan on March 9 to be eliminated from the Big 10 season ending tournament. The Hurricanes are also 3-2 SU over their last five games. They lost to Florida State in an ACC matchup.

The current line has the Hurricanes as 5-point favorites with the total set at 132. Smart money will take the Hurricanes less the points and the total to be UNDER. Check out our top sportsbooks for action on this game.
