Lakers at Pistons Pick and Preview

March 06, 2012

The Los Angeles Lakers are on the road again as they travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons March 6. Los Angeles is in a tough battle in the Western Conference and the Pacific division. They are currently 23-14 and in second place in the division but in fourth place in the playoff race for the Western Conference. Detroit is 12-26 and 12th overall in the Eastern Conference playoff race 6.5 games behind the eighth and final team the New York Knicks.

Kobe Bryant leads the Lakers in scoring and is the league’s leader with a 28.9 points per game average. He is helped on the floor by the teams leading rebounder Andrew Bynum and the team’s second leading scorer Paul Gasol.

Detroit has not played well offensively this season. They are led by Greg Monroe who leads them in scoring, rebounding and steals. They have five players that average double figures but the team only averages 89 points each game.

The Lakers hold the head to head advantage between the two teams over the last 10 games. They are 6-4 SU and 7-3 ATS in those 10 games. The total has been UNDER 8 times in those 10 games. Of late, the Lakers have played well as they are 4-1 SU over their last five games with only a loss to Oklahoma City. Those wins include one against Miami Sunday night, as Bryant out played LeBron James to help the Lakers to victory.

Detroit is playing just the opposite. They are 1-4 SU in their last five. The only win was against Charlotte, the league’s worst team at 4-31. This game should be dominated by the Lakers potent offense even though they are playing on the road. The total will pay out to those betting UNDER and sharp money will be with the Lakers.
