Portland vs. Miami NBA Free Pick for Thursday

March 01, 2012

Chris Bosh

The Miami Heat is currently leading the Southeast division with a 27-7 record and will travel out west to take on the Portland Trail Blazers March 1. Portland currently has a record of 18-16 and is in second place in the Northwest division behind leader Oklahoma City.

The Heat are averaging a league high 103 plus points per game and are 18-16 ATS the season. LeBron James leads the team in scoring, assists and steals. Chris Bosh is the team’s leading rebounding and guard Dwayne Wade is the team’s leading shot blocker.

Portland is averaging five fewer points per game than the Heat and is an identical 18-16 ATS this season. Offensively six players who score in double figures with LeMarcus Aldridge leading that group with a 22.3 points per game average lead Portland. Marcus Camby is the team’s leading rebounder with a 9.5 per game average.

Miami leads the head to head battle between the two. They are 6-4 SU and ATS in the last 10 games between the two. The total has gone OVER in 7 of those 10 games. Miami is on a role as they have won six straight games prior to the All Star break. Portland has not fared as well as they were only 2-2 SU in their last four games before the break.

The Heat have the number one offense that will face up to the league’s tenth ranked defense and the Portland offense is ranked sixth in scoring while the Heat defense is only ranked 14th. The game should have a total that is OVER what the odds makers predict.

Look for the Heat to run the ball and score a large number of points against the Portland defense. The Heat offensive options should give the Portland defense fits and a win SU and ATS on the road should be the result.
