NCAA Hoops Minnesota vs. Indiana

February 26, 2012

A Big Ten conference matchup takes place on February 26 when the Indian Hoosiers travel to Williams Arena to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Both teams are struggling in conference play and are looking to win to secure a good seeding in the upcoming conference tournament.

Indiana is currently 21-7 overall and fifth in the conference. Cody Zeller who is leading the team in both scoring and rebounding leads them. Zeller scores 15.7 points per game and hauls down 6.6 rebounds each game. Jordan Hulls leads the Hoosiers in assists with a 3.4 per game average.

Minnesota is 17-11 overall and ninth in the conference. Trevor Mbakwe was leading the team in scoring and rebounding. He was averaging 14 points a game and 9.1 rebounds per game, but was lost to the team due to an ACL injury. The entire team has had to chip offensively to offset the loss of Mbakwe. Leading the team in assists is Julian Welch with an average of 3.2 per game.

Head to head the Golden Gophers hold a 6-4 SU advantage over the Hoosiers in the last 10 games the two have played. Indiana however is 7-3 ATS in those same 10 games. Minnesota beat Indiana 77-74 in their first meeting of the year in January.

Indiana is 4-1 SU in their last five games, including three wins over Big Ten opponents. Minnesota is headed in the opposite direction. They are 1-4 SU in their last five games. All four losses have been suffered at the hands of Big Ten opponents.

The two teams usually play very tightly contested games with the winners usually winning by less than 10 points. The Hoosiers are playing much better heading into tournament time and should win SU and ATS.
