Notre Dame @ St. Johns

February 24, 2012

St. John's Hoops 2012

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame will visit New York and the St. John’s Red Storm at Madison SquareGarden on February 25. The Irish are currently 20-8 overall and second in the Big Conference. The Red Storm has struggled all season and is 12-16 overall and eleventh in the conference. The Red Storm will not make the NCAA tournament unless they win the Big East Conference tournament, which is next to impossible, but they can play the spoiler.

Notre Dame is jockeying for position in the Big East and need all the wins they can get to stay as close to first place as possible. They are led by four players who all average between 12 and 14 points per game. Tim Abromaitis leads that pack with a 14 point per game average. Jack Cooley leads the team in rebounding with 9.2 a game while scoring 12.2 per game.

The Red Storm has three players scoring in double figures. Of those three, D’Angelo Harrison averages 16.9 per game. Moe Harkless is scoring 15.4 per game and hauling down 8.7 rebounds per contest to lead the team.

When the two teams meet, their records do not seem to matter as evidenced by their last ten games head to head. Notre Dame is 5-5 SU and 3-7 ATS in those 10 games. The total has been UNDER in 6 of the 10 games.

Notre Dame is on a roll of late as they are 5-0 SU in their last five games. St. John’s is just 2-3 SU in their last five games but has won two straight against DePaul and UCLA.

Even though the game will be played in MSQ look for the Fighting Irish to take the victory SU in a low scoring defensive struggle where sharp money will be on the UNDER. Bet this pick at Intertops Sportsbook
