NBA Game Preview and Pick: Minnesota vs. 76ers

February 19, 2012

76ers

The Atlantic division leading Philadelphia 76ers travel to the Target Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves who are currently last in the Northwest division. Both teams are headed in opposite directions. Minnesota has a record of just 15-15 while Philadelphia is 20-11.

Philadelphia does not have one player dominating the game. Lou Williams leads the team in scoring with an average of 16 points per game. Spencer Hawes is leading the team in rebounds but is currently out with a sore Achilles tendon. Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand are picking up the slack in rebounds. Six players on the 76ers are currently averaging in double figures.

Minnesota is led in scoring by Kevin Love who averages 25.8 points per game. Love also is pulling down an incredible 14.2 rebounds per contest. The Timberwolves also have six players averaging double figures in scoring. Ricky Rubio who averages 8.6 per contest leads the team in assists.

Philadelphia is 19-12 ATS this season and 7-5 ATS playing on the road. Minnesota is 17-14 ATS this season and at home is 8-10 ATS. Head to head the matchup is equal. Philadelphia is 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS in the last 10 games the two have played against one another.

Philadelphia is 2-3 SU in their last five games, while Minnesota is also 2-3 SU in their last five games. Philadelphia is the NBA’s stingiest defense giving up just over 87 points per game. The two teams are averaging in the mid 90s per game in scoring but with Philadelphia’s defense, the game should be a low scoring affair. Look for the total to be UNDER and the 76ers defeat the Timberwolves SU and ATS.
