NBA Knicks vs. Mavericks

February 18, 2012

Dallas MoneyLine

The Dallas Mavericks, the Southwest division’s second place team will visit Madison Square Garden on February 19 to face the upstart New York Knicks. New York is currently in third place in the Atlantic division. Dallas has played well of late as their superstar power forward Dirk Nowitzki is back to health and contributing. The Knicks are enjoying the league’s new star Jeremy Lin who has come out of nowhere to rally the team.

Dallas’ leading scorer is Nowitzki who averages 18.2 points per game. Also scoring in double figures for the Mavericks is Jason Terry, Vince Carter and Shawn Marion. Leading the team in rebounding is Brendan Haywood who averages 6.7 per game.

The Knicks are led in scoring by All Star Carmelo Anthony who averages 22.3 per game, but he has played sparingly of late due to an injury. Tyson Chandler handles the bulk of the Knicks rebounding chores and is averaging 9.6 per game. Lin has taken over the point guard spot and is averaging 5.1 assists per contest. Lin has also picked up his scoring since Anthony has been injured.

The Knicks have battled back to a 15-15 record and are 7-0 SU in their last seven games. New York for the season is 14-16 ATS, while Dallas is 18-12 ATS. Head to head the Mavericks have a decided advantage over the Knicks. Dallas is 9-1 SU in the last ten games head to head with New York. Dallas is also 7-3 ATS in those same ten games. The total has been OVER in 6 of those 10 games.

Dallas is 4-0 SU in their last four games. The Knicks are also 4-0 SU including a win at home against the Los Angeles Lakers last Friday. The Knicks have played tremendous basketball of late with the emergence of Lin as a key player in the fold. Look for that play to continue at home against Dallas. Nevertheless, Dallas should prevail SU.
