NCAA: Michigan State vs. Wisconsin Picks

February 16, 2012

MSU

The Michigan State Spartans will host the Badgers of Wisconsin February 16 at Breslin Center in a very important Big Ten matchup. The Spartans are currently in second place in the Big Ten with an overall record of 20-5. The Badgers are just two spots behind the Spartans in fourth place and have an overall record of 19-6.

Wisconsin is not known for a high-powered offense and has three players averaging in double figures in scoring. Jordan Taylor is the high scorer with an average of 14.5 points per game, while Ryan Evans and Jared Berggren both are averaging over 10 points per game. Defense is what carries the Badger team as they are only scoring an average of 64 points per game.

The Spartans are also a low scoring team as they are only averaging 73 per game. Draymond Green leads them in scoring with an average of 15 per game. He is also averaging 10.5 rebounds per game. The only other scorer on the team averaging double figures is Keith Appling who averages 11.9.

Wisconsin has played well of late on the road, as they are 6-1 SU on the road in their last seven games. However, playing at Michigan State has not been good to them. The Badgers are 0-5 SU over the last five games played in Michigan.

Michigan State has played very good of late. They are 20-3 SU over their last 23 games. They are also 5-0 SU in their last five home games. Head to head Wisconsin holds the edge 6-4 SU in the last ten games between the two schools. In the same ten games, Wisconsin is 5-5 ATS.

Both clubs have played well in recent Big Ten games, as both are 4-1 SU. The Badgers only loss in their last five was to Ohio State. The Spartans only loss was to Illinois and they beat Ohio State this past Saturday at Ohio State. Look for the Spartans to win SU. The moneyline is -260
