Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt NCAA Basketball Free Pick

February 11, 2012

Kentucky Basketball

A key Southeastern Conference game will take place February 11 at Memorial Gymnasium when the number one ranked Kentucky Wildcats visit the Vanderbilt Commodores. Kentucky comes in the game as the nations number one team with a record of 24-1 overall and 10-0 in conference play. Vanderbilt is 17-7 overall and 6-3 in the conference.

The Wildcats are led in scoring by four players, all averaging between 12 and 14 points per game. Anthony Davis is averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game. Two other players are averaging nearly 10 points per game as well, making the Wildcats a very difficult team to defend as they have so many options on offense.

The Commodores are led in scoring by the duo of John Jenkins and Jeffrey Taylor. Jenkins is averaging a team high 19.7 points per game while Taylor is averaging 17.8 points and 5.8 rebounds each game.

Kentucky comes into the game with a 5-0 SU record over its last five games playing on the road. However, the Wildcats are only 1-5 SU in their last six games on the road at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has played very good ball over its last 14 games, as they are 11-3 SU over that stretch. At home, the Commodores are 8-1 SU over their last nine home games.

In head-to-head competition, the two teams are 5-5 SU and 5-5 ATS in the last ten games between them. The total has been UNDER in 6 of the last 10 games the two have played head to head. Kentucky has won all ten games this season against SEC foes and looks to add to that against the Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt however is just 3-2 SU in its last five games against SEC opponents.

The Wildcats are riding high and should easily defeat the Commodores as long as they do not overlook them. Look for the Wildcats to win SU by a double-digit margin.
