NCAA Basketball Pick: Michigan vs. Indiana

January 31, 2012

A  Big Ten Conference rivalry will heat up the winter night when the Indiana Hoosiers visit Crisler Arena to take on the Michigan Wolverines. The Hoosiers come into the game 17-5 following a Sunday night win over Iowa. The Wolverines are 16-6 and lost their last outing against Big Ten rival Ohio State.
Cody Zeller who is currently averaging 15.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game leads Indiana. Three other players on the Hoosiers chip in with double figures in scoring. The team averages 80 points per contest. Tim Hardaway Jr. who averages 15.2 points per game leads Michigan. Trey Blake averages 14.1 points and five assists per game for the Wolverines. The team is only averaging 68 points per game through their first 22 games.

The Hoosiers are 11-5-1 ATS thus far this season while the Wolverines are 10-9 ATS. On the road Indiana is just 3-3-1 ATS, while Michigan is 6-4 ATS playing at home. In their last five games playing away from home the Hoosiers are 1-3-1 ATS. Michigan is 2-4 ATS over their last six games, but is 5-0 SU in their last five games played at home.

In the last ten games played head to head, the Hoosiers are 6-4 SU against the Wolverines. Indiana is also 7-3 ATS in their last ten games against Michigan. The total has been OVER in 7 of the last 10 games Indiana and Michigan have played each other.

The Big Ten conference scheduled has proved to be difficult the Hoosiers. Indiana is just 2-3 SU in their last five games against Big Ten conference teams. Michigan on the other hand is 2-1 SU in their last three games against opponents from the Big Ten.

Indiana has been inconsistent. In their Sunday win against Iowa, they scored 103 points, but last Thursday they only scored 50 in a loss to Wisconsin. Look for a low scoring defensive game with Michigan winning ATS.
