NCAA Basketball Pick: Wisconsin vs. Indiana

January 26, 2012

Indiana Hooisers

The Big Ten conference schedule is starting to heat up. On Thursday evening, the Indiana Hoosiers travel to Kohl Center to face the Wisconsin Badgers. The two teams have nearly identical records, as the Hoosiers are 16-4 while the Badgers are 16-5. Wisconsin is tied for first place in the conference with a 5-2 record, while Indiana is struggling with a 4-4 conference record.

Jordan Taylor who is averaging 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game leads the Badgers. Ryan Evans leads the team in rebounding averaging 6.6 boards a game for the 25th ranked team.

Cody Zeller who is averaging a team high 15.1 points per game leads the 17th ranked Hoosiers. He also is leading the team in rebounding with 6.4 per game. Four other Hoosiers are averaging in double figures in scoring giving the team a balanced scoring attack.

Indiana is 9-5-1 ATS this season, while Wisconsin is 12-6 ATS. Indiana is only 2-3-1 ATS when on the road and Wisconsin is 7-4 ATS when playing at Kohl Center. On the road the Hoosiers are only 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games. Indiana is just 3-22 SU in their last 25 games played on the road. When playing on the road against Wisconsin, Indiana is only 1-10 SU in the last 11 games in Wisconsin.

In their last five games, Wisconsin has a record of 4-1 SU. At home, Wisconsin has a record of 20-5 SU in the last 25 games they have played at Kohl Center. Wisconsin is also 5-0 SU in their last five games playing against Indiana.

Although Indiana is ranked higher in the national polls, they are not playing well in conference games and have not fared well against Wisconsin of late. Look for the home court advantage of Wisconsin to play a big role in the game’s outcome. The Badgers should win SU but look for Indiana to cover ATS and look for a tight defensive matchup making the final total UNDER.
