NBA Heat vs. Lakers

Lebron James

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers will take on LeBron James and the Miami Heat Thursday January 19 in American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. The two teams are heading in opposite directions of late. The Lakers are winners of 4 of their last 5 games while the Heat has dropped 3 out of their last 5. Nevertheless, when the two teams meet, records can be thrown out the door. It is East versus West and superstars against superstars.

Perennial All-Star Kobe Bryant who is scoring nearly 31 points per game with 5.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game leads the Lakers. The Lakers are 10-5 on the season and currently one game ahead of the upstart LA Clippers in the west.

The Heat are lead by one of the best players in the league, LeBron James who is scoring nearly 30 per game while dishing out 7.6 assists per game. The Heat are currently in third place in the Southeast division with a 9-4 record and are trailing Orlando by a game and Atlanta by a half game. One injury is significant in this game. All Star Dwayne Wade for the Heat is day to day with a sprained ankle and his presence could have a huge impact on the game if he is ok to play.

Thus far, this season in its first 15 games, the Lakers are 7-8 ATS while the Heat is 6-7 ATS to start the season. The score has been UNDER 6 out of the last 10 games the two teams have played head to head. SU the teams are 5-5 in their last ten games head to head. However, Miami is 8-2 ATS in those same ten head-to-head games.

Playing at home and coming off a big win against San Antonio on Tuesday night, the Heat should prevail in this match up. Look for a high scoring game as Kobe Bryant has scored 40 or more points in 4 of his last 5 games and LeBron scored 33 against the Spurs while Chris Bosh chipped in 30.

Update 12 Noon ET. Wade is out. The line will fluctuate. We like the Heat regardless.
