Tuesday NCAA: No. 12 Georgetown at Depaul

January 17, 2012

Hoyas Hoops Tonight

Tuesday’s college basketball Top 25 action tips off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN when No. 12 Georgetown visits unranked DePaul in a Big East matchup. Place your college basketball bets at WagerWeb.com.

The Hoyas enter off a 69-49 win at St. John’s on Sunday. Junior forward Hollis Thompson scored 20 points and the Hoyas used a big second half run for the win at Madison Square Garden. That ended a two-game losing streak for the Hoyas, who improve to 14-3 overall and 4-2 in the Big East. Thompson hit 7-of-13 shots from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point land to lead the Hoyas, while senior guard Jason Clark added 15 points, eight rebounds and a career-high eight assists.

DePaul (10-7, 1-4) lost 76-59 at Louisville on Saturday. The Cardinals had lost four of their previous five games, but avoided their first three-game home losing streak in 11 years by jumping out to an early lead against the Blue Demons and thwarting a late rally. Brandon Young scored 14 points for the Blue Demons, who cut the lead to five points with just under 7 minutes to play but never got closer. DePaul’s leading scorer, Cleveland Melvin, finished with eight points, 10.6 less than his season average, and committed six turnovers. The Blue Demons have lost 66 of their last 71 Big East games.

These two schools met just once last year,  an 86-75 Georgetown win at home. The Hoyas have won 10 straight against DePaul and lead the all-time series 19-6.
